The Mission
City
Church is a church dedicated to reaching our generation for Christ and
making true disciples, not just converts. Our mission is to reach and
disciple our city God’s ways so that they can mature and become a
fruitful follower of Jesus Christ.
Vision
The
first part of our vision is to reach into our world and establish the
Kingdom of God through creative and relevant evangelism. We are
continuously searching for new ways to take the gospel to our city by
creating ministries such as our Fall Family Fun Day, Spring Easter Egg
Hunt, Fall Fun Fest Potato Barn, Red Sunday, and Amazing Race. Jesus commanded us to make
disciples, not just converts. Therefore, discipleship is a major part
of our ministry. Through our Discovery Classes, we provide Biblically
based training that covers the basics of Christianity and beyond. We
believe that people need and want to be challenged, and that they
desire more than to just sit in church services.
Relationships play an important role not only in church but in everyday
life. Through a cell-based ministry called the vision of 12 we have men’s, women’s,
teen’s, and children’s networks regularly meeting to help sustain
fruitful, strong relationships.
Ephesians 4:11-12 is a mandate for every pastor to train and equip believers for the work of the ministry.
Another priority of this ministry is to help each believer discover the
gifts that God has placed within them and then release them into the
area of their gifting(s) within our church. Our future goals are to
have ministerial training and internship opportunities for people who
feel a need to grow more or desire to be trained for possible full time
ministry.
Leadership:

The Pastor
While
the concept of church government and structure may be foreign to some
believers, the Bible does instruct local churches to be organized in a
specific manner. Because God has called “some to be Apostles, some
Prophets, some Evangelists, some Pastors, and some Teachers,”
(Ephesians 4:11), it is necessary that the Pastor be the head of the
local church.
City Church operates under a Pastoral form of church government. In
short, this biblical organization of the local church recognizes the
Pastor as the person chosen by God to bear the responsibility and
authority as the head of the local body; he is recognized as the
visionary and leader of the ministry.
Board of Trustees
While
the pastor has the ultimate responsibility of answering to God for the
progress of the ministry, wisdom and state law provides for a Board of
Trustees. As provided for in the by-laws, the Board of Trustees is
appointed by and assists the Pastor by providing spiritual and
practical guidance in the operation of the ministry as a corporation
and as a biblical institution. |
